Frequently
Asked Questions

Where are you located and how far will you travel?

I am located in Ledyard, Connecticut, but travel often to RI, MA, NY and VT for weddings and elopements. If you’re interested in wedding or elopement photography, I will go anywhere you are, and vow to do my best to keep travel costs as low as possible. Traveling is one of my very favorite things on earth!

2
What if we're awkward in front of the camera?

This is most peoples’ first concern, especially if it’s their first experience getting their photo taken. When we’re working together, it should be your last worry. I strive to create a comfortable environment where the session doesn’t actually feel like a photo session. I use creative prompts, games, and questions that help you to settle in and feel at ease.

3
How many images will we receive?

You can expect to receive 50-80 final, hand-edited images per hour of coverage.

4
What are the steps to book with you?

Booking with me is very simple! If you decide I’m the right fit for you, I will send you an online booking proposal including both the retainer invoice and contract. Once the contract is signed and the retainer is paid, we both do a happy-dance (wherever we are), because then you will be officially booked!

5
How long is the turnaround time with editing?
(sessions + weddings)

For weddings, you’ll receive a sneak peek gallery within a week of your wedding, and for sessions, you’ll receive a handful of sneak peek images within a couple of days of your session. Session galleries are delivered between 4-8 weeks, while wedding galleries are delivered within 8-12 weeks.

Wedding FAQs

Do your wedding packages include engagement sessions? Do we need an engagement session?

While not every couple may need or want an engagement session, there’s several reasons why I include it in my wedding packages, and I encourage every couple to take advantage of it if they can.

First, an engagement session gives us a chance to hang out and build a sense of trust before your big day. This is especially important if one or all partners haven’t been photographed before, as it creates a layer of familiarity with working with me and being in front of the camera! Second, having this experience helps you know what to expect on the day of your wedding, making wedding photos go smoothly and be one less thing to stress over.

7
Do you shoot with a second photographer? Do you recommend having one?

For smaller weddings (less than 50 guests), I don’t usually use a second photographer.  For weddings that have a decent sized guest list and longer timelines, a second photographer is extremely helpful for a handful of reasons. First, this ensures a mixture of photos are captured between guests’ emotional reactions and key moments between the couple. It also helps to have a second photographer assist with getting ready photos, which tend to happen at two separate locations at the same time. The purpose of a second photographer is help to capture the visual story of the day and provide a different perspective on the most important moments, helping to make sure nothing is missed.

Most importantly, the second photographer is my best back up plan in case an emergency occurs just before your wedding (illness, accident, family emergency).

Couples always have the option to invest in a second photographer for a smaller-sized event or if one is not already included in their package.

Do you offer guidance with the timeline and planning around photos?

One-hundred percent, and I strongly urge couples to loop me in with these details as my input can make a huge difference in the quality of your images and the flow of the day (ex: positioning of a ceremony setup on a bright, sunny day, when to do wedding party and family portraits, etc).

9
Can we meet you before our wedding (regardless if we have an engagement session scheduled)?

Always. I love meeting for coffee or a small bite and prefer in-person meetings over virtual ones. Humans need humans, and face-to-face social interactions are so good for the soul.

10
Do you offer wedding albums and prints?

The very thing that brought this wonderful art and job into my life is the reason I will always encourage clients to invest in a physical form of their wedding photos. I hang onto a collection of old family wedding photos and albums that are near and dear to my heart. I want to give my couples the ability to feel their memories in their hands and interact with the story of their wedding day.

Prints and wedding albums are time machines you’ll never stop using. I offer fine art prints in various sizes, and the elegant, custom-made albums come beautifully packaged in an album box so you can keep them safe. Prints are included in every wedding package, and albums are available to you before or after the wedding.
